HB2017-Asia, as one of the two regional Healthy Buildings conferences scheduled in 2017, inscribes itself on the path of a series of Conferences that, since 1988, have been organized around the world with a focus on the quality of the indoor environment viewed from a holistic perspective.
 
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we cordially invite you to attend Healthy Buildings 2017-Asia (HB2017-Asia) being held from September 2 to 5, 2017, at the College of Medicine, National Cheng Kung University in Tainan, Taiwan. HB2017-Asia, a significant event dating back to 1988, is world renowned for its unwavering and holistic approach to the quality of indoor environments.
 
The theme of the Conference is Breaking the Asia-Pacific Countries' Barriers to Climate Adaptation, and Sustainable Development, with a focus on indoor environment and health in the Asia region. The Conference will provide a platform to review the history and examine the current status of Asia regional research; development in academic arenas; and its connection to business and the market needs of the future.
 
Tainan City, the oldest city in Taiwan, is the cradle from which Taiwan derived nourishment to flourish. We earnestly hope you will take this opportunity to also treat yourself to the local gourmet and charming culture. We look forward to your presence and to having you share your research findings! We now invite authors to submit abstracts for oral and poster presentations at Healthy Buildings 2017 Asia! Tainan, Taiwan awaits you all!

Before you begin, please read the following information:

1. For this Conference only extended abstracts are requested and there is a one stage submission process.
2. Abstracts should be approximately 300-800 words in length. (Figures and tables are not included.)
3. Tables and figures are accepted for upload via the abstract system using JPEG or PNG format. The maximum is three figures/tables which will be allocated to the last page in your abstract.
4. Generation of the abstract document will be performed automatically based on the text and figures provided.
5. After the submission deadline, no further changes are permitted to be made to abstracts.
6. Important Dates:

• The abstract submission opens: October 15, 2016
• The abstract submission closes: March 31, 2017
• The abstract acceptance notification: May 5, 2017

1. Short and descriptive titles are preferred, avoiding the declarative or interrogatory title styles.
2. The HB2017-Asia Scientific Committee (hereinafter the Committee) prefers and will look with greatest favor on abstracts submitted in the Introduction-Methodologies-Results and Discussion-Conclusions format (examples listed below).
3. The Committee will consider abstracts submitted in different styles only when the above-described format is inappropriate to the content.
4. Abstracts which most closely fit with the themes of the conference sessions will be selected. The Committee will review the abstracts and those selected to present will be notified by e-mail. Abstracts submitted but not chosen for oral presentation will automatically be listed as poster presentations.
5. The separate text and uploaded figures/tables will be prepared automatically for an electronic abstract book. 

• INTRODUCTION: The practical and scientific background for the study, as well as the hypothesis and the objectives of the study should be given here. The names of micro-organisms should be italic (e.g. E. coli). Frequently used technical terms may be abbreviated after the first time they are mentioned: “Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is…”. Only use the metric system (SI units). Cite the literature by using author and date format, such as Etheridge and Sandberg (1996), Li et al. (2005) or ASHRAE (2003). You can also use (Etheridge and Sandberg, 1996) or (Li et al., 2005) when necessary. Use a comma between name and date. Single author’s name and two authors’ names should be included in the text. For three or more authors, use the last name of the first author with “et al”. In the list of the references, only the first three names are included, followed by et al. if there are more than three authors.
• METHODOLOGIES: The study design, materials, measurement, statistical, mathematical or modelling methods, procedures or methods should be given here. It is not recommended to describe routine methods or procedures in full, but a reference may be cited.
• RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: Results can be presented with some overall comments on the findings and their applicability in other relevant settings. The findings can be put into perspective with prior knowledge. Discussion should also present authors’ interpretation of the meaning and implication of the results, as well as the importance of the work for practical applications. Possible sources of error that may affect the interpretation of the results should also be discussed.
• CONCLUSIONS: Conclusions should be solid, new and concise, supported by the results presented earlier.
• ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: You may acknowledge the assistance provided by others to the work presented or in preparing this paper. Sources of financial support should also be noted.
• REFERENCES: Please list the reference in five items at most.
