About College of Public Health, National Taiwan University

The College of Public Health, National Taiwan University (NTUCPH, or CPH; 國立台灣大學公共衛生學院) is the first college of public health in Taiwan. Experienced enormous growth in size and complexity, particularly after the early 1990s, CPH currently has nearly 60 full-time faculty members, around 700 students, and more than 3,000 alumni around the world.

The institutional predecessor of National Taiwan University (NTU) was Taihoku (also known as Taipei) Imperial University, founded in 1928 by the Japanese colonial government. After World War II, Taihoku Imperial University was renamed as National Taiwan University. In the 2015 QS World University Rankings, which was published in September 15, 2015, NTU was ranked top 70.

The predecessor of CPH was the Institute of Tropical Medicine, established in 1939. In 1993, CPH was found as the eighth college established in NTU. Currently, CPH has one department (Department of Public Health), six institutes (Institute of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, Institute of Health Policy and Management, Institute of Environmental Health, Institute of Health Behavior and Community Sciences, Institute of Occupational Medicine and Industrial Hygiene, and Institute of Food Safety and Health), one degree program (Master of Public Health degree program), and several research centers, providing a Bachelor’s degree program (BS), seven master’s degree programs (MS and MPH), and four doctoral degree programs (PhD).
